The coronavirus infection has improved dramatically from 25.5 days in mid-August to almost 73 days now, the Ministry of Health revealed in a statement. Doubling time is the number of days it takes to double the number of cases for Covid-19.
The Health Ministry reported in a statement that 81,514 new recoveries have been added in the last 24 hours. The total number of recoveries thus amounted to almost 64 Lakh (63,83,441). India has come a long way from recording a 25.5-day doubling rate in mid-August to now recording a nearly 73-day (72.8-day) doubling rate.
The Ministry claimed that this is the product of collaborative action by States / UTs under the Centre’s systematic and high-level countrywide testing policy, timely and efficient monitoring and tracking, rapid hospitalization, and efficient compliance with the Union Government’s Uniform Care Protocol.
This is also the cumulative product of physicians, paramedics, frontline staff, and all other Covid-19 warriors’ selfless service and devotion, it said. The higher number of one-day recoveries is also reflected in the steady rise in the national recovery rate, which has been above 87%.
79% of the latest recovered cases are accounted for by ten states and UTs. Maharashtra contributed more than 19,000 to the single-day recoveries, followed by more than 8,000 recoveries in Karnataka, the ministry said.
The cumulative cases of coronavirus increased to 73,07,097 and the death toll increased to 1,11,266, with the novel coronavirus claiming 680 lives in the country over 24 hours, data updated at 8:00 am showed.
The case fatality rate of Covid-19 has further declined to 1.52 percent. In the region, which represents 11.12 percent of the total caseload, there are 812390 active cases of coronavirus infection, the ministry said.
