The numbers are likely to change in the coming months

As many as 2,238 doctors were infected with the disease and 382 of them lost their lives, according to the IMA Covid-19 data on September 16, 2020.

No country has lost as many physicians and healthcare staff as India. Doctors suffer four times the mortality of ordinary people and eight times the death rate of private practitioners on the same scale.

The IMA, publishing a list of 382 doctors who died in the Covid-19 pandemic alongside their addresses, demanded that they be remembered and honored as martyrs and that their families and children deserve the government’s consolation and solatium.

During this national health emergency, the doctors’ body said it had shared hundreds of suggestions and recommendations with the health ministry.

The doctors’ body said, calling it “indifference,” that no country has lost as many doctors and healthcare staff as India. Doctors suffer four times the mortality of ordinary people and eight times the death rate of private practitioners on the same scale.
