Indian Medical Association, Chennai Metro, Marina and Teynampet branches, and IMPAI conducted a CME webinar on September 6, Sunday. Dr. Girija Ramamurthi flagged off the webinar and commenced the session with IMA and physician’s prayer song. With MedPiper supporting them in conducting the webinar, the 2-hour program was a success, along with the unequivocal support from Tamil Nadu Medical Council. The presence of Dr. Arunachalam, Registrar Tamil Nadu Medical Council brought much-needed energy to the webinar session.
The webinar saw the impressive participation of about 98+ doctors from across Tamilnadu. As the webinar was progressing, the doctors began engaging with the other participants with informative sessions ranging from tips for a successful medical practice to treatment for diabetes which is made easy for general practitioners.
Dr. Gowri Shankar captivated the audience through his information sessions on evidence-based medicine. Some of the other topics discussed were how doctors can utilize their time on researching new trends and developments, understanding data to provide better standards of care, and all about Aggressive Medical Therapy.
Dr. Kailash lightened the mood with sessions on communication and soft skills that every doctor must ideally possess. He stressed the importance of making the patient feel at home, valued, and cared for. Sessions on the necessity for balancing soft skills and hard skills found a lot of positive reception from the audience.
There were also certain topics like how true healing is beyond diagnosis and procedures. Dr. Kailash also stressed the importance of attire, hygiene, and health and how your workplace can tell a patient about the quality of the care provided there. Asking doctors to improve their handwriting skills was another interesting round of discussion that happened during Dr. Kailash’s session. He explained how the inability to understand the handwriting on prescriptions could have a hazardous impact on the health of the patient and could drag the doctor into medico-legal cases. The webinar came to an end with one of his engaging sessions on time management for general practitioners. Dr. Natesh, IMA Chennai delivered a fitting vote of thanks to concluding the webinar.
Some of our distinguished doctors whom we would like to thank for taking the time to conduct the webinar are
Dr. Su Thillai Vallal and Dr. Girija Ramamurthi from IMA Chennai Metro
Dr. Subramaniam and Dr. Raja Rajeshwar from IMA Teynampet
Dr. Manivannan and Dr. Amarnath Chowlee from IMA Marina
Dr. Satchidanandam and Dr. GS Kailash from IMPAI
Without whom this webinar would not have received the kind of reception that we got last time. Expecting more such warm support and collaboration with IMA, IMPAI, and Tamil Nadu Medical Council for conducting similar successful webinars in the future.
